Diving Deeper into Presentations

I have always been confident speaking in front of a big audience; however, it has been a struggle knowing if I engage them or not. To help myself, I searched for a TED Talk that would help me understand how to hook people and how to present myself properly in front of a decently sized crowd.

This is the video that I watched:

The Surprising Secret to Speaking With Confidence

I have always been drawn to TED Talks because the speakers are very engaging and add in their own kind of humor throughout their presentation. TED Talks are very credible because they are a world-wide program in which a variety of individuals speak about something they study or are just passionate about.

I learned a few tips from this video:

  • Be sure to introduce yourself well; first impressions will make or break a presentation
  • Practice your tone of voice (singing helps)
  • Make sure you have expression and/or energy in your voice
  • Believe in yourself; if you can sell it, people will believe it
  • Be personal; make it easy for someone to understand
This video  has helped me understand what to do before a presentation and how to approach an audience confidently. I really like the idea of singing before talking for a long time because it can make it so I start off strong and assuring. What is in me is the key to this confident power.
